This ship tracker works like a marine radar for the Strait of Hormuz: every AIS-broadcasting vessel appears as a live marker you can search, filter and follow. Search ship positions six ways

The vessel search accepts a ship name (e.g. a tanker you read about in the news), an IMO number (the permanent seven-digit hull identity), an MMSI (the nine-digit radio identity used in AIS), a call sign, a declared destination port such as Ras Tanura or Jebel Ali, or a flag state such as Panama, Liberia or the Marshall Islands. What the ship details panel shows

For every tracked vessel you get name, ship type, flag, MMSI, IMO, call sign, course, speed, heading, destination, estimated arrival time, last position timestamp, coordinates, draught, length, beam and cargo type. Movement trails visualise the ship's route through the strait's inbound and outbound lanes.

Ship radar vs. AIS tracking — what's the difference?

Traditional radar detects objects by radio reflection and needs line-of-sight hardware. What tracking sites call "ship radar" is actually AIS vessel tracking: ships voluntarily broadcast their identity and GPS position, and receiver networks assemble those broadcasts into a live picture. AIS reaches far beyond any single radar horizon, which is why a browser-based vessel monitoring map can show the whole strait at once.
